Many options are "greyed out" (space for the new Sabres away and third for instance, as well as the Ducks third, Blue Jackets third, Kings third, Rangers third, specialty Vancouver Canucks Jerseys) but there doesn't seem to be any new road jersey for the Predators in the game...is it "too little too late" for their inclusion? It certainly doesn't seem likely, as this seems to be a retail copy. I actually thought the ducks new jersey was going to be nice until I heard there was piping up and down ala Calgary jersey. This New York Yankees Jerseys is going to SUCK. The only good part about it is that it has the old Mighty Ducks logo but in modern colors... Thats going to look bad ass. Hopefully in a couple years they'll actually change their main logo to that one and use the D as a shoulder patch or something. The old Mighty Duck logo is sweet and now with black, gold and orange colors it would be like an evil version of the original logo. Hopefully they'll do it!! And I am extremely excited with how many teams are ditching the reebok style jerseys and going to the traditional look, which IMO there is no better look than a couple stripes on the bottom and arms. Nashvilles new jerseys are nice. I might actually show them some respect for once. The Islanders jerseys are BEAUTIFUL!! As are the Flyers new away and the Maple Leafs new (or rather, old) NHL Jerseys make them an instant threat for best in the league. Just a couple questions for you.. When do you think the Edmonton Oilers are going to release a new white version of their homes? Do you think it will be next year? Have you heard any rumblings at all? And also, why don't the Sabres go with their old royal blue colors for their Washington Nationals Jerseys? The color they have now is so bleak and boring. Thanks Chris and thanks for all the updates love this site! Not sure how much clout this video holds, but an early video of the "NHL 11" menu reflects many of the rumored and confirmed changes listed above (despite not revealing or leaking anything). The Sabres will be undergoing big changes to celebrate their 40th anniversary season. Their current third jersey — a throwback with some modern updates — will take over as the home jersey, as has long been rumored. Since the last edition of JerseyWatch 2010, Icethetics has learned that the Sabres will wear a new road sweater — a white version of the new home MLB Jerseys. It features a navy blue shoulder yoke piped in gold and a lace-up collar. To my knowledge, there is no shoulder patch on either sweater. We also have new details on the Sabres' new third jersey. It's royal blue and celebrates the history of Buffalo hockey with a vintage white script across the chest inspired by the old Buffalo Bisons club. Beneath the script and set to the right side is the Sabres' 40th anniversary mark — the retro logo with 19 and 70 inside the blue circle. The striping is somewhat unusual. Both the sleeves and bottom of the sweater feature two sets of yellow double-stripes — for a total of four stripes each around the sleeves an waist, perhaps symbolic of each decade the team has existed. The collar is yellow with vintage white laces. Not sure at the moment whether the front of the Wholesale Jerseys will feature the sweater number. However, the numbers will be vintage white with blue cross-stitching inside, as seen in graphics displayed on the Sabres' website. The nameplate on the back will be gold with royal blue lettering.
Chris if you can't post the pics how are you going to give us the awesome history lesson pre-release? That has become a staple of yours that everyone has grown to love and participate in! Maybe you should create an alternate website and give users access to see info that "can't" be shown if fearful of losing sources or someone else's job? OR if I was you, I would give access of stuff like that by charging a membership fee to the site . not that I want to screw me or anyone else over but I would be damn willing to pay you a few bucks for a early look as I bet would other people. I know you'll prolly say you didn't make this page to make money but hey, just putting the thought out there. Looks like over the weekend, an image started spreading, as these things do. It was believed to show the Buffalo Sabres Jerseys new road MLB Jerseys, unlocked in someone's copy of NHL 11 from EA Sports. In an effort to keep Icethetics readers a step ahead of everyone else, I quickly got on Twitter and let you know it was a fake. By the way, if you want to see the image, you have to click here. If I display it here in the post, I worry some visitors won't bother reading the text and make inaccurate assumptions. How do I know it was fake? A couple of reasons, but that's not important. What you want to know is how the actual jersey is different from the ruse. Most important, the stripes around the waist are reversed. Gold should be in the middle, with blue/silver above and below. It is different from the original '70s Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys in that regard. Also, while there is thin silver piping running up the sides of the sweater, it's not nearly as heavy-handed as what you see in the viral image. And of course the image is blurry, as you would expect for something of this nature. So I can't see whether it has the silver stripes around the waist and sleeves. The real thing does, just like the new home Wholesale Jerseys. Also, some have asked about the silver "armpits." I haven't seen that part of the white sweater so I can't answer that. My guess would be that it mirrors the blue one, so it probably will. Any other questions I can answer for you guys? This jersey will probably be unveiled in 11 days along with the new thirds. I've gotten some concept art based on the descriptions I posted. I'll try to get that on the site soon. That is definitely the winter classic NHL Jerseys and a little photo shop/paint. the black piping is so fake! it's not even blue nor is it even close to silver. I hate when people try to do that and try to make lies!
as designers, they just have no idea how to accurately capture the essence of the team and the area it represents. buffalo is an old school hockey town, and should have preserved and protected their original visual identity like the red wings, blackhawks, rangers, leafs, etc. For the third Wholesale Jerseys, I like the colors and design of the jerseys a lot, but I dislike any jersey by default when it has text in place of a logo (Dallas anybody?). I really don't care what font or script or whatever it is. If it ain't a logo, I ain't liking it. As for the roads, lose the piping and you got a really nice NHL Jerseys. Piping is another thing that ruins a jersey immediately in my opinion. it's clear that the creative team in buffalo is very weak -- the unnecessary silver accents and the "19 70" look incredibly amateurish to me, and when you also consider the slug mess from the last few years, it's clear that those guys are in over their heads. I think we can all (or most of us) agree by saying good riddance to the "Slug". A much better uniform set. The thirds are a nice touch and not that bad. My only problem is with what some people are so "meh" about and it's the size of the font. Don't forget, these are replicas judging by the annoying tag down at the bottom right (or left if you're wearing it), the authentic ones might have a bigger font, but who knows... Overall, not too shabby. As for the New York Yankee Jersey, I'm on the fence. Am I happy the slug is gone? Absolutely! But I think they're doing too much here when they don't have to and that's what frustrates me from a design standpoint. It's not really an upgrade to the originals, just changes for the sake of changing something. Keep it simple like the new thirds and you got a winner. This team will never get it right, period. It might be a contrast in colors issue along with bad picture quality. I would've rather seen a blue collar, blue cuffs at the wrist (would have been hidden by the gloves anyway so not too horrible, but by itself looks awkward) and switching the stripes down at the bottom. To me it just comes off as one of those childrens knock offs you would find at Wal Mart or Ebay, but when they're worn on the ice with numbers and names added on to them, they probably won't look so amateurish. But hey, who cares what a team wears Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys, as long as they win! Seriously! You people that are complaining need to relax! THE SLUG IS GONE! Yes, Buffalo is a very passionate hockey town (I know, that's where I am from), but we should all be thankful that we have the classic logo back. With the exception of the original 6 teams EVERY team alters their jerseys from year to year (or every few years)...it's how they make money!!! If they kept the jerseys the same every year then those rabid hockey fans that want the latest jersey would not be waiting in line the day that they are released to get their hand on the newest version...it's how the economy works. I think it's sad that there have been many different versions of the Sabres uniforms over the last decade (I chuckle a little when I see someone wearing the red thirds from a few years ago or the old "bessie the mad cow" MLB Jerseys), but the important part is that the color scheme is back (blue and gold) and the classic logo is back.
This is an amazing looking sweater. It's extremely clean and I can't think of a single criticism (outside of the hokey reebok edge collar that looks terrible for everyone) I always disliked the lady liberty because it primarily used a color outside of the Rangers pallet in the name of being trendy. Original six teams don't need to be trendy. New York Rangers Jerseys forward Sean Avery has taken it upon himself to give us a sneak peek at his team's new third NHL Jerseys. This image was posted today on Avery's website. Looks like a pre-release photo shoot with the new alternate sweater — obviously. Having gotten an early look at it myself, I can say that this is in fact the extra uniform the Rangers will have on hand for the 2010-11 season. You can see a patch there on the right shoulder. It's most likely the 85th anniversary logo. I'm not sure when the team plans to hold an official unveiling for the third. They may just wait until November, like Anaheim. Or they may do it sooner. Either way, you've already gotten a chance to see it for yourself. I'm a big fan of the color scheme, but it's no secret that personally, I would've rather seen them go with with the Lady Liberty logo from the mid-90s. What do you guys think? Hit or miss? The Lady Liberty Third jersey was an iconic jersey and showed that the third jersey program can work and be successful, there was even a white version of it for a season or so. I can understand that they want to honor the 85th anniversary with a throwback as many teams are doing (i.e. Buffalo, Vancouver, and Los Angeles) but it just feels like they dropped the ball on this one. I feel the same as alot of other people here. It looks like a good Wholesale Jerseys design as far as stripes and colors. But the Liberty logo on the front would have knocked the entire look out of the park. Statue of liberty is synonymes with NYC regaurdless of wether its actuall closer to NJ. Give the rangers an actual logo and use the lettering as alternates. It should be: New 3rd jersey with Liberty logo as home MLB Jerseys, white "NEW YORK" as away jersey, and blue "NEW YORK" as alternate. just my opinion.
Personally the numbers on the front are not bad the sharks also have it and it doesn't look bad. The third MLB Jerseys is vintage yet modern at the same time. I also think every team in the winter classic should make there jerseys a third, home or away jersey. LOVE the front of those thirds, but I can't find anything I even like about the backs! That said, I want this NHL Jerseys so much as long as I don't customize it! I always complained about how ugly the flyers' jerseys looked with those stupid wrong-color nameplates, and now we have them too! I don't want to be a hypocrite so there's no way I could customize this. I hope the come out with shirts with this logo too, I live in Florida and I'd love to rep the style without melting in the heat! I think a lot of people here have either forgotten or just don't know about the history of that wordmark on the front. That's a throwback to the old Buffalo Bisons AHL team, which had a bottlecap logo on the front (which looked an awful lot like a Pepsi cap) and the word "BUFFALO" stylized across it. It's that word which has been transferred over to the new 3rd Buffalo Sabres Jerseys, and it's a great way to honour that which came before (the Bisons ceased operations when the NHL awarded Buffalo a franchise). They went with white, as the original "BUFFALO" was red and blue, which would look pretty awful on a yellow and blue Wholesale Jerseys. I'm pretty sure Chris mentioned something about this earlier, but just a recap in case people don't know why it is the way it is. I'm still dealing with the yellow namebar. The bright colours in small doses thing SPOT ON!! The Islanders are making a mistake going to that sweater full time. The one they've been wearing since the lockout is crap, obviously. But The original royal blue is kind of dated. Somewhere between the super bright royal that the Isles will be wearing this season (also present with the Oilers retro unis and the new Sabres thirds) and the crazy dark navy the Canucks wore for about 10 years is where these teams should be. I think the current Vancouver Canucks Jerseys are spot on.... but I am biased. The Sabres home uni could be a little lighter, but not as light as the third. Ultimately, like you said, from worst to (or at least near to) first.
These NHL Jerseys are beautiful. The thirds have grown on me tremendously since I saw them--I hated the idea of another text-based jersey--and I think look amazing. The backs of the 3rds I'll have to wait to see them in action before I make a decision on whether or not I love or hate the nameplates and stitched look, though I will say that I really like that the Sabres decided to do SOMETHING creative with the numbers. It's like the Lightning's alternates from the 90s and their old font. You can love it or hate it, but at least it was different and kudos to them for stepping out of the box with non-generic numbers. The home and away unis look spectacular. I know that they could have been the royal blue instead of navy, but it also could have been red and black, so be happy for what you've got, Sabres fans. The Sabres now have a beautiful home, great away, and stunning, throwback, full-old-school-color 3rd to enjoy. Not a Sabres fan myself, but I'll enjoy watching them play this year, and now it's not just for Ryan Miller, Thomas Vanek, and Drew Stafford. that third is one of the ugliest things I have ever seen. the two sets of yellow stripes are ridiculous, regardless of what it represents, the C is way too big and ugly, and the little logo under the word buffalo looks horribly misplaced. the numbers on the back don't help. the colouring itself is great, but the actual MLB Jerseys is terrible. if they had one set of double stripes, ditched the logo and just kept the writing, and shrunk the captain/alternate letters so that they aren't bigger than the actual logo, it would look pretty nice. they would be perfect if they used royal blue and are pretty close as is.. but those thirds.Having a better look at the thirds now, I can say that I do like them - from the front, at least. The yellow nameplate and the blue cross-stitching on the numbers will take some getting used to, but the off-white really doesn't look too noticeable. Overall, I like Los Angeles Dodgers Jerseys. And I'm glad the Los Angeles Kings Jerseys are finally back to where they belong, primary uniform-wise. While I didn't mind what some called the "goat head" itself, the red-black-silver seemed a bit of a misstep - yes, they were one game away from winning the Cup in them, but... then, there was the Buffaslug, debuted a year before the implementation of the Edge design. While it was great to see blue and gold back for the Sabres, the overall look just wasn't good. While I'm definitely in the camps of "get rid of the silver piping and the pitstains" and "get rid of the front numbers", other than those two nitpicks, these are what NHL uniforms should be. The navy looks awesome and really helps the yellow pop and updates a once great hockey jerseys. Oh big flipping deal, it has cross stitching in the numbers... When you're watching a game you're not even going to see that... And even with that being said, it still looks good to me. Anyways, I guess the old saying is true "you can't please everyone". I guess some people just are not happy unless they are belly aching.
