The Sabres will be undergoing big changes

Picturing them with the off-color pants and gloves will look really retro cool. the comment about not a bit of black in them was spot on. in general, striped Jerseys are cool as long as the stripes aren`t too thin like in one of montreal`s earlier editions. a cannon design for colombus is a really good idea, it makes sense with their name. the islanders going back to the old style would be a good move also, the new ones with the thin piping on `em are bland and the islanders really look better in the new slightly lighter blue. buffalo should definitely go retro. the old style with royal blue and yellow was basic , but really sharp. if nashville is going solely on the new colors, it`s a big step up. their jerseys were without a doubt the worst in the league. no offense to nashville fans...really. the Buffalo Sabres Jerseys 70`s style are cool. contrasting name plates...really cool. if these are to be the full time ones....good move. as far as vancouvers go. the v on the arm is fantastic , the new larger numbers look good, and the old style rectangle with stick in it says tradition more than the killer whale design. in my own opinion, a home run with these. i`d love to see these as a full-time jersey on the road, and reverse the color to blue at home with the exact same design. The Sabres will be undergoing big changes to celebrate their 40th anniversary season. Their current third MLB Jerseys — a throwback with some modern updates — will take over as the home jersey, as has long been rumored. Reebok lists the Sabres' road sweater as TBD, but it will most likely be a white version of the current alternates. I also understand they'll be adding an entirely new third jersey, but I'm told it may be only for the 40th anniversary season. It will be royal blue with BUFFALO in a white script across the front, containing the vintage logo with the player's number underneath. The concept here to the right is my own rough rendering of the description I've been given. I've added the traditional striping and colors. Obviously this jersey design isn't exact. But based on what I've been told, it's probably a good estimation. We'll have to wait until this summer to find out for sure. As the Flames have already announced, they will be bringing back the red retro NHL Jerseys that was worn for a handful of games this season. The major difference is that it will be adapted to the Reebok Edge cut. The striping will remain unchanged. The home and road sweaters will not change. The rumored black jersey that was previously in the works has likely either been tabled for a few years or scrapped entirely. We may never know. Unless Flames president Ken King gets chatty. On August 4, the NHL announced that the Calgary Flames would host the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 Heritage Classic, an outdoor game to be played at McMahon Stadium on February 20. The Flames used the opportunity to unveil a specially-designed sweater for the event. It pays tribute to the Calgary Tigers, the city's original pro hockey club in the 1920s. The deep red- and gold-striped sweaters will be worn with vintage-style beige pants and canvas-colored gloves. The Flames worked with Reebok to create the unique look. The fact that the Devils are having "Retro Night" against the Capitals makes me wonder if the Caps will wear their white Winter Classic jerseys against the Devils' red retro jerseys. It'd be kinda a cool tradition for the Devils to play the away team of the Winter Classic with both teams wearing retro Wholesale Jerseys every year at St. Patty's Day.

Another custom jersey

And because I know it'll make some people just lose their minds, the Falcons have contact us (501st Legion -- the Star Wars costume group) to do another Star Wars night with them, like we did with the Icehawks and the other minor league teams here in Michigan. Just going by memory, we appear annually with the Grand Rapids Griffins and Muskegon Lumberjacks, and have done an appearance with the Flint Generals. I forget whether we've worked with the Michigan K-Wings, but we've also had an appearance or two with the Red Wings Alumni. The alternate NHL Jerseys will pay tribute to area's original hockey team, the Owen Sound Mercurys, which played from 1947 to 1957. They wore blue and orange, in contrast to the Attack's red and gold. This team photo of the 1951 Allan Cup champion Mercurys (right) was the best image I could find on short notice depicting the historic uniforms the Attack will replicate this season. No telling on whether there will be another Wholesale Jerseys like we did this past season with the Boba Fett themed jersey that got universally ridiculed here, but just wanted to put that out there as a warning, that we MAY have another hockey/Star Wars crossover Jerseys coming down the pike. I think the Port Huron logos now are just fine -- the home logo is the one that really caught my attention. There's a lot of shading and coloring patterns that go well between the black and the blue, and the detail is pretty impressive...but it's not so elaborate that you can't understand it. The road logo is a good re-working of the original logo, which would have fallen to a lawsuit against the Chicago Blackhawks if Mike Ivall hadn't gotten to them first. The angling and the color scheme has changed enough that while you can still tell it's been re-arranged, it's just unique enough to get by. It might be a little unnecessary though, considering the shoulder-patch...kind of reminds me of the Boston Bruins Jerseys' secondary logo that wound up being used as a primary logo by the USHL team. All in all, i don't think the work is too horrible...after all, the color scheme is consistent, which is what people will really identify the team by.

An Exact template

That "road" crest is extremely similar to the previous logo, which they of course stole from Mike Ivall. It's basically a re-coloring, but the exact same format. The should have just used the bear head for the CHWK logo. The sticks and wordmark look so very high school. I also can't believe they modeled their look after the Thrashers, when they already had a winner in emulating Boston. The new Admirals JERSEY is very slick, despite the apron strings. The melted Ivall rip-off is disturbing. Dear Fighting Falcons: why not let the talented Icethetics membership take a crack at it? You already liked what we do in Mike's work! Times Herald beat writer Paul Costanzo has been covering the team throughout Falconsgate. He says the logo above labeled "road crest" has been designated by the club as the official primary logo. The secondary logo, which presently appears on the team's website, will be worn on the home HOCKEY JERSEYS. The logo posted on Icethetics last week will more fittingly be a shoulder patch on both WHOLESALE JERSEYS. By the way, not to add to the confusion, but the NAHL's website has it flipped, saying the home crest is the primary mark. And it would be odd if the home sweater gets the secondary logo. But nothing has ever really made sense about this team's branding decisions. Which brings me to my next point: Who thought these three logos made for a single cohesive identity? Holy mismatch, Batman! They all use the same colors, mercifully, but not in the same manner. Only the home crest and shoulder patch appear to be in the same neighborhood, and you'll find out why in the next paragraph. Having said my peace, I do like the new home crest. It is very much a solid minor league logo. In fact, I learned tonight that it was created by an Icethetics concept artist. Chad Stilson, who is also active in Icethetics contests, was hired by the Falcons to create the home crest and shoulder patch. You can see his full identity package here. (For the record, he says the team hired someone else to rework Mike Ivall's logo again. that BOSTON BRUINS JERSEYS is an EXACT template of the Sens 3rds, minus the color differences. I suppose Reebok is still ironing out the fine details as to how to achieve certain patterns/striping with the Edge cut of the jersey. I'm really looking forward to the day when the Ottawa 67's are able to return to the full barberpole MLB JERSEYS that they've come to be identified with but in the Edge cut.

Classically-designed uniform

Chris maybe you can at least verify or hint at this if it is correct. I talked to someone that knows someone that works somewhere, not trying to get anyone in trouble, but I heard the Buffalo Sabres Jerseys is gonna be just basically a color swap with the thirds/ new home sweaters which would be pretty boring and lame. (think edmonton) But he couldn't quite recall for sure if they had shoulder yokes on them or not. I hope they do because white jersey's with out yokes are so blooming boring and so reeyuckbock. That's all we really have to go on at this point, so let's break it down. It's described as a "classically-designed uniform" that's a "tribute to not only the history of Buffalo hockey, but early NHL Jerseys designs." That all but confirms some sort of textual element as the primary feature of the sweater. Those old-timey hockey sweaters were always using words over symbols. Pair that with the part about the history of Buffalo hockey, and a picture starts to emerge. Rumors have swirled for a long time that the Sabres may look to their AHL predecessor, the Buffalo Bisons, who played from 1940 to 1970. This concept (right) probably best exemplifies what we're likely to see based on the above release. Having said that, it goes against the description leaked to Icethetics back in March. But a lot can change in that amount of time. Luckily, we only have less than a month to wait before we see it. And of course, we can't talk about Boston Bruins Jerseys in 2010 without talking about the standard home and road sweaters. It's practically a foregone conclusion that the "Buffaslug" is dead. However, he still appears on the team's website so I'll hold off on calling it just yet. That being said, we're expecting last season's third jersey to be the new home sweater while a white version of it will be worn on the road. We've said this over and over. My guess is that this will be made official as sort of an "oh, by the way..." type of thing at the Puck Drop event. If I hear or see anything before then, you know where to find it. And by the way, this expectation that I "should" have a "leak" by now... laughable, folks. We'll see the jerseys when we see them. What's the rush? The Rangers had the Liberty Logo on the practice jersey for a few years now. Even when the Alternate Jersey was in use the same logo was on the practice jerseys. Even this year, on the teams site, you would see the home, road and practice jersey on the link for the team shop. That jMLB Jerseys had the liberty logo there too...so it's not a sure shot that Lady Liberty will be donned again for the Rangers. It be nice but many feel the "New York" Jerseys is coming back.

Hartford's a great town

Hartford was not the smallest market in the league when it left; Buffalo is much smaller. Quebec City and Winnipeg are also much smaller. Raleigh is around the same size, and only when expanded to include other cities in an area the size of Connecticut does it exceed Hartford. If Hartford is combined with Springfield, Mass and New Haven, it's a market of about 2 million people. The Boston Bruins Jerseys just never really tried to enter the New Haven and Fairfield County markets as they should have. The wealth of a market is also important, and the Hartford area is one of the wealthiest in the country, along with a strong corporate base. The population and companies of Fairfield County also await some wooing, as the New York teams are all City, Westchester, Long Island, and Wholesale Jerseys oriented. The market isn't to blame; the league just doesn't want a team there. It's kind of annoying to keep hearing this bunk about potential teams needing permission from other markets to set up shop because they are "in their territory" when they are clearly NOT. Fact: If Hartford wanted a team they would not need the permission of the Rangers or the Bruins. Hartford is clearly not in the territory of the Bruins sell NHL Jerseys. Copps coliseum is not in the Sabres territory either and Hamilton could conceivably build an arena slightly west of the city to skirt the issue with the Leafs. Pretty interesting, and I hope the Whalers fans all the best, but sadly I'm not seeing Hartford getting a NHL team back anytime soon. Hartford's a great town, but there are just way, way too many other possible sites vying for an NHL team, like Seattle, Kansas City, Houston (for the size, you'd better believe the NHL is interested if possible), Hamilton, and the always fan-favorite Winnipeg that likely are more attractive alternatives for NHL teams that want to relocate (or if the NHL wants to expand). Plus, as Brian Favat said, it's smack dab in the middle between two of the most profitable MLB Jerseys franchises in the guise of the Bruins and the Rangers, so getting their approval for another team in their turf is a huge hurdle to cross. But I do agree that the Hartford Whalers logo is pretty awesome, and the Connecticut Whalers logo is pretty good, too. Nice, simple, easy to remember/identify, and conveys a strong point. On a side note, I actually have a friend that's a Rangers/Wolf Pack fan that lives just outside Hartford that's furious at Baldwin and the hockey "fans" (as he puts it) that live in the area. He's been talking about this proposed move to become the CT Whalers for a couple weeks now, and as he puts it, it's just a cheap marketing ploy to get folks that don't know any better to suddenly start following a team that they mostly ignored over the years with the delusional prospect that the Whale might return if they start showing some support to the rebranded AHL team. In other words, he believes that Baldwin's not even serious about bringing the NHL back to town, but is just saying that to play on the hoping Whalers fans into supporting the Rangers-affiliated team that they've ignored for about a decade and for new Jerseys sales. He's got no interest whatsoever to make Hartford an NHL town again.

Design a nice uniform

Did the 1920s Pats actually wear cream-colored sweaters? I hope they did, because if they were actually white hockey jerseys in the '20s, then this is a case of faux-aging, and I don't like that at all. (Think about it - if you were a player, would you wear an actual 85-year old wool sweater into a game?) I really like Owen Sound's throwback 3rd. Nice, colorful, classic... just beautiful! Moncton... I'm with Chris: like the logo, not so crazy about that particualr color combination on the Buffaslug jerseys template. (But then again, I was never a fan of that template, let alone the logo it's associated with. Prince Albert... what, no green? The regular Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys already black, and now it looks like they're going Dallas Stars on us. I'd rather see a green sweater. Tracking all 60 unveilings will be an impossible task for me alone. If the minor pro leagues aren't my forte, then the Canadian junior leagues really aren't. Heck, it was easy last year. The league posted all 120 jerseys in one convenient location on their website for all to enjoy. I can only hope they'll do it again. If they don't, I'll be counting on the best fans in the hockey blogosphere to help out. Indeed, that is you. If you see something, say something. I'll do my best to get it on the blog. Meanwhile, there are five teams that have either unveiled a third jersey recently or are about to. I'm going to try and speed through them — in no particular order. Attack captain Garrett Wilson was on hand to introduce the Attack’s new third jersey for the upcoming season. The New York Yankee Jerseys will be worn for every Wednesday night home game for the 2010-11 season, along with other specified dates throughout the year, including the home opener on Saturday, Sept. 25 vs. the Guelph Storm. The Mercury’s operated from 1947-1957, winning the Canadian Sr. Men’s Hockey Championship (The Allan Cup) in 1950-51 and produced many players who either had strong local ties at that time or created those ties while playing here in Owen Sound. Many of the Attack’s year end awards are named after past Mercury players and still presented by their family members. Nev, I read online this past season that the owner of the 67's wanted to keep the barber pole design, but Reebok said they couldn't incorporate it, which is a bunch of crap anyway. He stated that he would keep working towards bringing the barber pole design back in the very near future since it's in the team's heritage and history. So with that said, I would think the 67's would be leaning that way. I sure hope the MLB jerseys decided to bring back the stalks of wheat as well. I hope the Swift Current Broncos bring the bucking bronco/horse shoe logo on their 3rd. Hope Saskatoon returns to the simple circular hockey stick logo on theirs. Most of all, this will give the Kootenay Ice a chance to finally design a nice uniform because theirs have always been terrible.
