Howard Baldwin wants to bring hockey back to Hartford

That Columbus anniversary logo is the best I have ever seen. There is no mistaking what it is or who it represents. It is classy and elegant. Yes, it somehow makes me think of the Civil War, which is a good thing considering the team's name. It should be news to no one that the Boston Bruins Jerseys will don altered jerseys beginning with the 2010-11 season. And by "altered," I mean "fixed." The missing stripes will return as will a much-needed shoulder patch. Will the Leafs wear these in 2010-11? Mike Burse of Bleacher Report offers up an in-depth look at how Leaf fashion directly correlates to Leaf success/failure. He also offers up this mock-up/concept (right, from LeafsHQ, see below) of what these new Jerseys might look like. As I've mentioned prior, no final decision has yet been made public. To this point, all we have is what team management has said. But for the record, Burse also says the Leafs have had these alterations in the pipeline since April 2009. The article also says that a new third jersey is in the works to replace the current one, but that won't happen until the 2011-12 season at the earliest. There's a lot of history to choose from. Howard Baldwin wants to bring hockey back to Hartford. NHL hockey. Whaler hockey. For those that have missed that iconic logo, he's trying to bring it all back. I am definitely with you regarding the Canucks' Agency numerals. They look very out of place and they are hard to read from far away. I think that once the Canucks officially settle on permanant home and away set along with a future third, we will see a return to the classic oxford block numerals. The Canucks have had classic numerals on every uniform they've had prior to the current transitionary Boston Red Sox Jerseys. Icethetics reader Gennaro Schiano writes in about the newly announced Whalers Hockey Fest which will consist of a series of outdoor MLB Jerseys to take place in February 2011. You can read more about it on Baldwin's website. Man, all this talk about changes to the league; will any of them happen? Will the Coyotes stay in Phoenix? Will Hartford get a team back? Will Winnipeg? Kansas City? What about new markets like Las Vegas? It's all kind of exciting. Hopefully Whalers Hockey Fest is a big success. I'll be keeping an eye on it. I love to see the "Whale" back in the NHL BUT does it have to be Howard Baldwin. This man made a mockery of the Pens, he's the one responsible for changing the logo/uniform in '93 after the Pens had just won Back to Back Cups in '91/'92. He created that God-Awful PIGEON logo and then managed to run the team into the ground forcing a 2nd Bankruptcy. Thank God Mario Lemieux bought the team and changed the logo back to the Skating Penguin Logo (Mario wore the Skating Penguin logo from '84-'92, until Baldwin created that Pigeon thing). Hope the NHL Jerseys logo never ever ever returns!

Flames to don special Heritage sweater

The Flames and habs have a long history as they were the last two Canadian teams to battle for the Stanley Cup in 1986 when the habs won and in 1989 when the Flames won. The leafs have no history really with any team in Canada except for the Habs. The announcement made on the Caps' website offers no details about the design of new sweaters, but traditionally teams look to past Jerseys for inspiration at this event. The Capitals have two distinct design eras prior to the 2007-08 rebranding. From 1974 to 1995, the Caps wore the red, white and blue they have today, but the logo and uniforms come straight out of the '70s — as you would expect. They are most noted for wearing white pants with their red NHL Jerseys early on in their inaugural season. In 1995, the Capitals adopted a darker blue and dropped the red in favor of bronze and black. My bet is that both the Capitals and Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys, who are hosting the New Year's Day game at Heinz Field, will select something from the '70s or '80s for their outdoor game threads. But don't expect to see Washington wearing white pants. Long before the Flames, you say? Interesting. Major league hockey was first played in Calgary in 1921 when the Calgary Tigers were formed. They won a few WCHL championships, including one in 1924 after which they challenged the very same Montreal Canadiens for the Stanley Cup. And lost. Fifty years later, in 1975, the WHA's Vancouver Blazers relocated to the Stampede City and became the Boston Red Sox Jerseys. They were significantly less successful than the Tigers and folded after just two seasons. Calgary developed a proclivity for taking other city's sloppy seconds (just a joke!) when the Atlanta Flames were relocated in 1980. So there's some interesting history there. The 2011 Heritage Classic will be the first time Canada has hosted an outdoor NHL game since 2003 when the Edmonton Oilers challenged the Canadiens. King did not say when this Baseball Jerseys would be unveiled, but one would expect it to be well prior to February. That said, I agree that the Vancouver Canucks would make for a better match up. My only hope is that they copy the format of the original Heritage Classic and an alumni Heritage Game. Would be great to see Lanny MacDonald, Theo Fleury, Gary Roberts, Mike Vernon, Al MacInnis, and Joe Nueiwendyk in Flames colors.

Design a new logo

The problem that I'm seeing here is that, like Chris has alluded to, is that some people are simply too lazy to be this creative themselves. However, as also previously alluded to, the "offending" logo is also infringing on Chicago Blackhawks Jerseys design, which means that if they're forced to change the logo, it won't be on the grounds of the person who posted it on this site, but because the Chicago Blackhawks raise a stink. Now, I'm under the impression that the original creator of the Eagle logo isn't getting anything monetarily from this, which is fine, but this is why I'm not very fond of some of the re-concepting that goes on here. Simply put, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Let the teams determine that for themselves. The point here is that Mr. Smith the "designer" of the Fighting Falcons logo ripped off Mike Ivall. Mike's concept was never meant to be for public consumption as a logo of any hockey team. It was created as a concept art for this site. Therefore, there has been no infringement on his part, as it was just a concept. However, if Port Huron is going to use it, then they should either credit Mike or better yet, pay Mike to design a new logo for hockey jerseys. If you are going to say that all concept art is copyright infringement, the the concept portion of this site, and other sites like it should just be shuttered away, and banned forever. And if Mike's (and therefore the ripoff's) logo is not for use under the Blackhawks property as you claim, then why wouldn't the Blackhawks go after the Port Huron Fighting Falcons in that case? After all, under your ruling, it is the Blackhawks' intellectual property. Either way, Port Huron is in a little bit of a bind because of their hired designers. The concept of owning an idea is ridiculous. Reserving a distinctive image as a distinguishing feature to indicate the producer or provider of a product or service makes sense to me, but copyright and patents have no legitimate place in modern society. The creator of the Fighting Falcons logo for MLB jerseys may have used the Blackhawks logo and Mike's logo as inspiration, but there should be no law to prevent the use of the logo. That being said, the laws do exist. And Mike has every right to take legal action here. There is a good chance that he will win. But our society has to carry the dead wait of such rent seeking behavior regardless of the outcome. When will this madness stop? Theives and crooks are out there. Don't like it, but ya gotta accept it. There was a team in a the "high minors" that stole something of mine about 10 years ago. Luckily, I had mailed a copy of the art to myself via certified mail, so I had proof of the date of creation. Is it fool proof?...no. But knowing I had this, the attorney for the team "suggested" they either pay me or move on to another logo. Sometimes the good guys win. I hope everyone here not only keeps up the amazing work to sell jerseys that you post here and on Puckdrawn, but that you protect yourselves from the cretins who obviously troll around this site.

Stage before the audience

Tsugaru Peninsula, the most northern part of Honshu Island in Japan's Aomori Prefecture, is the most prominent sea northern part of the land, across the choppy Tsugaru Strait, and directly across Hokkaido. Here is history in remote areas away from the political center, even the Aomori Prefecture is the only establishment in 1871, the equivalent latitude of the location northeast of the winter snow and ice, accumulated snow city Aomori sometimes up to 9 meters high, usually have one meter of snow . Therefore, in Japan's Tsugaru bring winter to buy hockey jerseys, as if on to the ends of the earth, seems to always be shrouded in a heavy heart deep sadness, as if iron-gray heavy and cold. Aomori airport in the winter twilight, is the most northern part of Honshu Island airport. When I went to Tsugaru is a winter. In mid-December 2010, has been approaching Christmas meant to be a snowy Aomori, but not for several days because of snow, the ground snow dissolving, only the slopes of the mountain still covered with a layer of white snow. Ice cold air, but still, hot air is the same port call Mongolia will get glass like "view of the Tsugaru Strait in winter," as sung songs. I did not see the Tsugaru Strait winter scenery, because peer friends was suddenly in a hurry hurry hurry to fly home, we rush to temporarily change the itinerary Aomori Airport, although the nearby beach, but soon lowered a black winter fog even went to the beach to see MLB jerseys, has not seen any shadow of the ups and downs of the waves. After all, only to the passing away, since the chance, it can only stay next blank, free to turn over. Aomori airport is not large, less people, the hall and deserted as the air in winter, the only surprise is that the airport signs, as many as five languages, Japanese, Chinese, English, Korean, and especially the sentence Russian long, bright green white lights on the signs, giving it a unique taste of the exotic border. The last flight that day off the friends, we Lengqing Qing Aomori Airport, with the night back to New Aomori Station, take the Shinkansen Hachinohe south, turn the local ordinary tram to the nearby coastal Misawa. We originally wanted to go deep in the Oirase River hot springs hotel, in winter because of snow buried mountain, Baseball Jerseys store is closed, only to change to Misawa . Eight to three Ze is taking the place trains, passengers are locals, the car window should be the suburbs, looked out to do is darkness, only the occasional flash of orange lights Jizhan, shabby building, there is a feeling of old The desolate, even in the darkness Huanghu into the poor folk of the north-east Japan after the war the world. Slowly moving train, train on the tracks monotonous shaking, heating boring, cushion reveals a hot, hot-larger, people are ill at ease the uncomfortable. Hachinohe Misawa place to train, it is more old-fashioned train, car heating hot. More than the car is rushing home after work crowd, look callous, young and old faces seem to look tired, pale in the light shining inside, pale as if I suddenly saw a lot of life, their hollow on display, some fresh the value of nothing. We can say that the silence of Misawa City, is the U.S. global strategic deployment in Northeast Asia, a "big ears", my early work at the newspaper group of international news when, on finishing off reports on this military base, has so far left this mysterious impression. We want to go to Aomori housing, a distance of three, but ten minutes drive from Kanazawa Sta modern spa hotel. There are quite well known Furumaki Northeast spa, hot springs in Japan is also the name of one hundred selected spring. Very large hotel, located in the floor area of 220,000 (a ping of about 3.3 square meters) of the involved Ze park, also has a lake. There are four hotels of old and new buildings, we live in a modern Western Museum, more particularly in hotels, also has an underground street, and communication of hotel buildings, the "street" is equipped with dishes, stage performances, exhibitions corridor, Jerseys shops, restaurants, beach, teahouses and other equipment to the local customs tone, to create a full 60 years before and after the nostalgic taste of space.

Junior Hockey League's logo

How about the Central Hockey League next followed by the USHL and the NHL Jerseys? The NAHL would be really interesting for people to see due to the distances between some of the teams. Today we're featuring the Albert Junior Hockey League's logo map. That may seem random, but actually there's a good reason for it. Starting tomorrow, we'll begin the AJHL mini-tournament of logos. The league has 16 teams, one of which you'll have to scroll way up for on the map. The Fort McMurray Oil Barons must have lots of long bus rides to endure. And one other note on this map, the Lloydminster Bobcats don't actually play in Alberta — their arena is in Saskatchewan! So why an AJHL tournament? Okay, I don't have a reason for that. That was pretty much just random. But at some point we'll be getting to all of the junior leagues. Some of them have pretty awesome logos. Of course some do not. Anyway, enjoy the AJHL map. What league should we do next? I'm thinking the Central Hockey League, which recently merged with the IHL. If you have suggestions, the comment box is just below. Sure, why not? I wanted to do a more obscure league for this mini-tournament so that fewer voters go into the polls with their minds already made up. USHL is on the list. We'll do it soon. NCAA — don't count on it. It's not really hockey-specific if you ask me. It's just voting on school logos. Maybe someday, but we have a lot of actual MLB Jerseys to do first.

The PITTSBURGH type on the chest to the logo

Seeing as how both teams were horrendous in their first several seasons, maybe it would be better to celebrate an era where the two teams were actual playoff contenders, and division rivals who hated each other. While the Caps and Pens were moved to separate divisions in 1993-94, the bitter rivalry lived on for several years. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to throwback to the early 1990s, where the teams had some heated playoff match-ups, and frankly, won some games. Bringing in the history of the series between the Caps and Pens in '91, '92, '94, '95 and '96 might also give the newer and younger Caps fans some understanding of why the longtime Caps faithful despise the Pens. What I think the best part about the Pens wearing their inaugural NHL Jerseyswould be is the return of one of my all time favorite fonts on the back. They used a shadowdrop (also borrowed, some would say, from the Rangers) effect on rounded numbers that just scream 60's! Check out a picture of it; the only thing I've seen that even comes close is the throwback Pittsburgh Penguins Jerseys worn by the Tennessee Titans last year. Also, let's see those white pants, Caps! I see your point, but I'm talking in terms of winter classic jerseys. They are basiclly using the same logo as they did last winter classic. The Classic has become a place for teams to dig into the past and do different things with their jerseys. So why do something the already did? And Pens fans here would much rather see the slightly different version of the current skating penguin than a slighly different version of current thirds and what the did in the WC in 08. Also, there is no rule that says home team HAS to wear dark. Occasionaly when we play Toronto they will wear their white thirds at their home ice while we wear our black jerseys. If the pens are going with blues and whites, I too would perfer to see them in white and light blue. those Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys were like pink Red Sox hats. The true sign of people who don't know anything about the team and just hopped on the bandwagon. Plus people bought them because they were the first to be widely counterfeited. I think I can count on one hand the number of legit blue WC jerseys I saw. Well, maybe two if you factor in once it became the third Jerseys. Pens will NOT be using Black and Gold from the 80's and early 90's. Lemieux has already said he does not want to purposely invoke the image of the Lemieux and Jagr led teams of that era onto Crosby, Malkin, and the rest of the current Penguins. It is their time, not his. Now, speaking for myself, I'd love to see the Sunday YellowMLB Jerseys with a twist, but since it looks like they will go to the inaugural season I hope they use the white version with blue striping and maybe switch the Pittsburgh type on the chest to the logo we see above. Or just throw everyone off with something completely different!
